About Gail
I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and an M.Ed with a concentration in special education. I have taught reading, writing, and math to struggling learners in the public school, non-public school, and charter school sectors for 14 years. I use research-based intervention programs and strategies, and my students have improved reading, writing, and math scores as a result. I provide direct and explicit instruction to teach students decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills necessary to be successful in school.

My teaching method is individualized to meet the specific needs of each of my students. I am flexible and patient, and I use reading programs that target the student's area of need, whether it's in reading multi-syllabic words, increasing oral reading fluency, or improving reading comprehension. I use a systematic approach to ensure that students have a familiar learning structure, and I do regular assessments to ensure that students are making progress and mastering reading skills. I incorporate students' interests and motivating topics into my lessons, and it's important for me to build a positive rapport with each student before we start working together to ensure that we have a continued positive relationship.
