About Alyssa
I am a senior in college and have been studying ESL for the past four years. In the last two years, I have been learning and acquiring skills in the high school and elementary settings of ESL. I have been working with students who are newcomers to the States and teaching them the phonics of the English Language and how to say and write words to create sentences in English.

As an elementary education major with a focus on ESL, I am particularly experienced in teaching newcomers the phonetics of the English language through activities that cover the four domains of speaking, listening, writing, and reading. I believe that it is important to incorporate each domain in every lesson for students to practice their language skills in a variety of ways. Through student teaching in small group settings, I have acquired skills to help students acquire basic conversational skills by creating activities relevant to their experiences and everyday life. In particular, I love to help students learn vocabulary that is relevant to their experience as English Language Learners.
