About Emily

I’m an Educational Support graduate with a background in Psychology and a genuine passion for helping students feel confident in their ability to learn. I understand that school can be frustrating when a concept just doesn’t seem to click, and I believe every student deserves to be taught in a way that works for them.

My experience in educational support has taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, encouragement, and individualized instruction. I take the time to understand how each student learns best and adapt my approach accordingly. Whether that means breaking a challenging concept into smaller steps, using visual examples, practicing together, or simply explaining something in a different way, I’m happy to find what works.

I strive to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable saying, “I don’t understand,” without feeling embarrassed or discouraged. My goal isn't just to help students complete an assignment or prepare for a test—it’s to help them understand the material, develop effective learning strategies, and leave each session feeling a little more confident than when they arrived.

I’m reliable, professional, and committed to creating positive learning experiences. I genuinely care about my students' progress and will celebrate the small victories along the way.

About the lesson

I believe that effective tutoring starts with understanding the student, not simply the subject. Every learner has different strengths, challenges, interests, and ways of processing information. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities.

With a background in Educational Support and Psychology, I use a student-centred approach that combines patience, encouragement, and individualized learning strategies. I adapt my teaching style to the student's needs and use a variety of techniques, including visual examples, step-by-step explanations, practice questions, discussion, repetition, memory strategies, and real-life examples to make difficult concepts easier to understand.

Each session is personalized, but a typical lesson may include:

Check-in & Goal Setting – We begin by identifying what the student would like to accomplish and reviewing any areas they are struggling with.
Review – We briefly revisit previous material to strengthen understanding and retention.
Instruction – I introduce or explain the new concept using examples and teaching methods suited to the student's learning style.
Guided Practice – We work through questions or activities together, allowing me to identify where additional support is needed.
Independent Practice – The student has an opportunity to apply what they've learned independently while I provide guidance when needed.
Recap & Next Steps – We review what was accomplished, identify anything that still needs work, and create a plan for the next session.
