About Samantha
I am a US citizen who has just returned from Tokyo, Japan after 15 years of teaching English as a Foreign Language. I started my career in conversation English schools where the focus of teaching was on entertaining students through activities. I transitioned into Assistant Language Teacher work in Metropolitan Tokyo where I assisted homeroom Japanese teachers with planning, preparing, and teaching EFL lessons between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

I use the communicative style of method teaching to help non-native speakers of English acquire, not learn, the English language. My lessons are based on the active learning approach. I believe that education is only achieved through activities tailored to the students' intelligence strengths and learning styles. During my lesson students encounter enjoyable learning activities that facilitate learning and give students a feeling of accomplishment. "Feed a man a fish and you feed him for a day, but teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
