About Ghous
I'm Ghous, a Birmingham based Electronics and Electrical Engineering tutor. I hold an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Chester, where I now teach as a Visiting Lecturer on a Master's level module. Alongside teaching I work as a freelance electronics engineer, designing PCBs and writing firmware for paying clients, and I have accepted international conference papers.
That combination matters when you're stuck. I set and mark postgraduate work myself, so I know what a marker is looking for in a lab report or a project write up and where marks quietly get lost. I also build the hardware, so when you ask why an op amp circuit misbehaves on the bench or why a control loop goes unstable, the answer comes from someone who has had the same problem in front of them.
Most of my students arrive in one of three situations: a module like Circuit Analysis, Signals and Systems, DSP or Control Systems that stopped making sense a few weeks in, a final year or Master's project with a deadline closing in, or exams approaching with a backlog of topics to rebuild.
My teaching is calm and patient and I don't rush. If the real gap is the maths underneath a topic, phasors, complex numbers, Laplace transforms, we go back and fix that first, because everything after it sits on top of it.

I offer one to one Electronics and Electrical Engineering tuition for university students, college students and serious learners. Lessons are available online or in person around Birmingham.
Who this is for
Undergraduates on electrical, electronic, mechatronic or general engineering degrees. Final year and Master's students working on a project or dissertation. BTEC, A Level and foundation year students. Career changers and self taught learners who want the fundamentals done properly rather than picked up from videos.
What we cover
Circuit analysis, DC and AC, Kirchhoff's laws, Thevenin and Norton, superposition, phasors and AC power. Operational amplifiers and analogue electronics. Digital electronics and logic design. Signals and Systems and Digital Signal Processing, covering Fourier, Laplace and z transforms, sampling and filter design. Control systems, transfer functions, root locus, Bode plots, stability and PID tuning. Semiconductor devices and power electronics. Embedded systems and microcontrollers in C with Arduino, ESP32 and PIC. MATLAB and Simulink, LTspice, Multisim and Proteus. PCB design in KiCAD. Lab reports, coursework, projects and exam technique.
How lessons work
Send me your lecture notes, assignment brief, lab sheet or the circuit that refuses to work, and I plan the session around it before we meet. Nothing generic.
Most students are stuck on one or two specific ideas rather than the whole module, so the first job is finding out which. Then we work through it with proper worked examples and real circuit diagrams, and I hand the problem back to you while I watch and correct, because you learn far more doing it than watching me do it.
You finish each session with annotated notes and a clear next step, and you can message me between lessons with questions.
Practical details
Online over Google Meet or Zoom with screen sharing and a shared whiteboard, or in person around Birmingham. Sessions run 60 or 90 minutes. Evenings and weekends available. The first 30 minutes are free, so you can check the fit before committing to anything.
Tell me your module, your deadline and exactly where you're stuck, and I'll come back with a plan for the first session.

Sir Ghous is an electrical engineer with a very strong understanding of his subjects. He explains things in a simple way and is very friendly and patient while teaching. He helps in building strong basic concepts. He is a dedicated teacher, and I truly recommend him.
I had the privilege of learning from Professor Ghous and it was honestly one of my top learning experiences. He explains things in a simple and practical way that makes even the harder topics feel doable. He really cares about his students and is always patient, when you ask him a question. You can tell that he genuinely enjoys teaching, and that enthusiasm works as a charm in favour of his students. I’d highly recommend taking his course if you want to truly understand the subject instead of just cramming it. By the end of your term with him, you don’t just learn the material, you actually start appreciating the field.
Ghous is a trustworthy mentor and teacher. I strongly recommend Ghous Ali as an electrical engineering tutor. He explains the difficult concepts clearly, teach with patience, and provide practical examples that make learning easier. Provide a flexible schedule for lessons. A highly effective and reliable tutor.
He is very Cooperative and has strong concepts. Well recommended!
I took lessons from him for my calculus course. He simplified every concept for my understanding, took the time solving the problems I faced while learning and was very supportive throughout the sessions. He took the lessons at my pace and made sure it was fun to learn and that I was not overwhelmed by it. I would recommend him if you are struggling and need someone who makes sure the lessons are engaging and fun.

The first 30 minutes are free. We use that time to go through your module, coursework brief or the circuit you are stuck on, so I can tell you honestly whether I am the right fit before you pay for anything.
Lessons run 60 or 90 minutes, online or in person around Birmingham.
The hour you book is not the only work involved. I read your lecture notes, assignment brief or lab sheet beforehand and plan the session around it, you get written notes and worked examples afterwards, and you can message me between lessons with questions at no extra cost.
Packs work out cheaper per hour and suit anyone working to a deadline, because we can plan the whole run of sessions instead of picking things up week by week. Most final year project and dissertation students book a pack.
