About Lara

Hi, this is Lara! I'm an electronics engineer with a Master’s in Project Management from the University of Auckland, currently working as an IT Project Manager. I’m also a passionate tutor who loves helping students learn in a way that speaks to how they learn best. I specialize in Physics and Math for NCEA, Cambridge curriculum. With an IELTS speaking score of 9 and years of mentoring experience, I’m confident in breaking down tricky topics and building students’ understanding and confidence. My lessons are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s goals; be it boosting grades, improving exam technique, or making sense of subjects that feel overwhelming.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on building both understanding and confidence in my students. My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and student-led. Each session is tailored to your needs, whether you're revising core concepts, preparing for exams, or aiming to deepen subject knowledge.

I use a mix of:

1. Clear explanations using real-world physics examples and analogies
2. Active questioning to develop critical thinking and deepen conceptual understanding
3. Step-by-step problem-solving techniques to build accuracy and confidence in calculations
4. Interactive experiments, simulations, and visuals to make abstract concepts tangible
5. Exam-style questions and timed practice to improve exam readiness
6. Concept mapping and mnemonic strategies to help retain formulas and physics principles

I am an electronics engineer and hold a Master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Auckland. My background allows me to bring a practical and organized approach to tutoring!

My lessons are open to:

- School and high school students (all levels, NCEA/Cambridge)
- Anyone seeking structured, relatable, and effective support
