About Kel

Hello! I am Kelly Garrison, and I am a wife, mother of three, grandmother to two sweet little girls, teacher, and baker. I love helping children learn and watching their confidence grow as they discover new things. I have experience teaching students of different ages and abilities, from early phonics and beginning reading to writing and mathematics. I am currently working on my master's degree in Reading and Literacy to continue growing as an educator and better support my students. My goal is to make learning fun, encouraging, and meaningful while helping every student feel confident and successful. I look forward to helping your child learn and grow!

About the lesson

My Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching approach is student-centered, encouraging, and supportive. I believe every student can learn when given the right tools, patience, and guidance. I adjust my teaching methods to meet each student's individual needs, learning style, and pace. I use clear explanations, modeling, hands-on activities, visuals, examples, and guided practice to help students understand new concepts. I also encourage students to ask questions, think independently, and build confidence in their abilities. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments but to help them understand what they are learning.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson begins with a quick review of previously learned skills and a discussion of the student's goals for the session. Next, I introduce or review the new concept using simple explanations and examples. I model the skill, work through examples with the student, and provide opportunities for guided and independent practice. Throughout the lesson, I check for understanding and provide positive, constructive feedback. We finish by reviewing what the student learned, celebrating progress, and identifying any areas that may need additional practice.

What sets me apart is my patience, encouragement, and ability to make learning approachable. I understand that students learn at different rates and may need concepts explained in more than one way. I strive to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel safe asking questions and making mistakes. As an experienced online teacher and tutor, I have worked with students of different ages and abilities, from early phonics and beginning reading to middle school skills and high school mathematics. I enjoy helping students recognize their progress and develop a positive attitude toward learning

Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are designed for preschool through high school students who need extra support, enrichment, homework help, or test preparation. I work with students at different academic levels, including those developing foundational skills, struggling with specific concepts, or seeking additional challenges. I teach early literacy, phonics, reading, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, sentence structure, and mathematics through algebra. I personalize lessons to each student's grade level, current abilities, academic goals, and specific learning needs. Whether a student needs help mastering the basics or building on existing knowledge, I aim to make every lesson meaningful, engaging, and successful.
