About Ashwyn

Hi, I’m Ashwyn. I work as an Educational Assistant in elementary schools in the Richmond School District, where I spend most of my day supporting students with reading, writing, and general classroom learning.

I enjoy working with students who need a bit of extra support or confidence in English. I’m patient, easygoing, and I try to make learning feel less stressful and more manageable. I know school can feel overwhelming for some students, so I focus on breaking things down, going at their pace, and helping them feel comfortable asking questions.

Through my work in schools, I’ve learned that progress comes from consistency and encouragement, not pressure. I like seeing students gain confidence, understand something that once felt hard, and feel proud of their work.

My goal as a tutor is simple: help students improve their skills while feeling supported and capable along the way.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is patient, supportive, and highly individualized. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take the time to get to know how each student thinks, what they find challenging, and what helps them feel confident. I break skills down into simple, manageable steps and build from there, making sure students fully understand before moving on.

I share knowledge by using clear explanations, real examples, and guided practice. Rather than just giving answers, I walk students through the thinking process so they learn how to approach reading and writing tasks on their own. I ask questions, model strategies, and encourage students to explain their thinking, which helps strengthen comprehension and confidence.

I focus heavily on positive reinforcement and consistency. Many students struggle not because they can’t learn, but because they feel discouraged or overwhelmed. I aim to create a calm, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. Progress is built through repetition, encouragement, and steady improvement.

My goal is not only to help students improve their English skills, but also to help them feel more confident, capable, and proud of their work—skills that carry over into the classroom and beyond.
