About Mira
I am a Computer Programming tutor with 7 years of experience and a BEng in Embedded Systems Engineering. I have worked with over 225 students with a specific focus on students in electronics, electrical engineering, and computer engineering programmes who need programming skills specifically calibrated to hardware contexts. My engineering background means I teach programming with a genuine understanding of the hardware constraints and requirements that embedded software must address, which produces teaching that is immediately applicable to the specific needs of engineering students. Let me help you develop programming skills that are fully integrated with your hardware understanding.

My programming teaching for embedded systems and hardware specifically addresses the close relationship between software and physical systems that characterises engineering programming and that distinguishes embedded programming from pure software development. I introduce the concept of memory management as an explicit and central concern from the very first C session, because embedded programmers who do not understand stack versus heap allocation, pointer arithmetic, and memory-efficient data structures consistently encounter the hardware resource limitations that define embedded development environments. Interrupt handling — the fundamental embedded systems technique for responding to hardware events without polling — is taught as a design pattern from early in the curriculum because it is essential for any real embedded application and requires specific conceptual understanding of programme flow that differs from sequential programming. I use specific hardware platforms — Arduino for beginners, STM32 for intermediate, Linux-based SBCs for more advanced work — as concrete, physical implementation environments because programming to physical hardware provides immediate, tangible feedback on whether code is working correctly that abstract software development does not provide. Real-time constraints — the specific timing requirements of embedded systems where software must respond within defined time bounds — are taught as a design consideration that shapes every architectural decision in embedded software. I address the debugging challenges specific to embedded development — hardware-software interaction bugs, timing-dependent failures, communication protocol errors — because debugging embedded systems requires different skills and tools from debugging pure software. My teaching goal is a programmer who is equally comfortable with the software and hardware dimensions of embedded system development.
