About Ryleigh

A little bit about me, I graduated with my degree in Public Health, but I loved science so I took biology, cell biology, Orgo I+II, chemistry, and biochemistry. Following my graduation, I started working at the NIH doing cancer research! I love my job, but I also love being a student! I decided to go back to school for my Masters in Public Health. Along the way, I became a graduate teaching assistant in ecology, biology, and cancer biology. Being able to teach has been one of the best experiences. I love working with students and helping to change their relationship with learning. In all honesty, I wasn't one of the kids that just got it. I had to work extra and then some to feel like I knew half as much as other students. The key for me came when I realized that I wasn't someone that learned in a traditional way. If this is something you find yourself struggling with, it is my hope we can work together to help you find your fit and become confident in the way you learn.

I believe that each student is unique and therefore, my lesson plans vary depending on your strengths and weaknesses. However, the basics include providing me with the topic 24-48 hours in advanced as well as what topics you struggle with most so I may prepare your tailored lesson. When we meet I like to maximize our time and work from the big picture into the nitty-gritty.
As a tutor, I believe in creativity and bringing fun into learning. As a student, I struggled with staying focused and connecting concepts. I would learn one things but would promptly forget it after the exam. In upper-level science classes this really hurt my understanding as most topics build on one another. I've been there, and I know what it is like to feel frustrated and burned out. Which is why I know I can help.
By using memory association and content webs, we can create a foundation that is ready for whatever comes next.
Who do I teach? Pretty much everyone! I have worked with college students in high level sciences all the way to first grade.
For college level courses, I teach all sciences but organic and physics. I also teach public health and writing workshopping for research papers of all subjects.
In high-school, I teach Algebra I, Algebra II, biology, chemistry, anatomy, AP U.S., AP European History, AP World History, Psychology, sociology, and English. Middle school down, I teach all classes except for foreign languages.
If the subject you are looking for isn't here, reach out and it may be in my repertoire but not specifically listed.
I also have experience working with student's that have learning disabilities including AHDH, ADD, and dyslexia.
