About Gabriel
Hi, I'm Gabriel. Plenty of drummers can keep time — but the ones who really move people have something extra: a feel that's unmistakably theirs, and the instinct to know what to play and when. That creative spark is the thing I care most about teaching. To me, drumming was never just timekeeping; it's expression, it's conversation, it's personality made audible, and I'd love to help you find yours.
I've been playing for years, and what keeps me at it is that there's always something new to create — a fresh groove, a different feel, an idea I haven't tried yet. That sense of possibility is what I most want to pass on. Not just where your hands and feet go, but how to make the instrument genuinely your own.
Here's something I believe strongly: creativity isn't a gift handed to a lucky few. It's a skill, and it can be built like any other — with the right encouragement and a solid foundation underneath it. So I'm patient, I don't judge, and I'm just as happy nurturing a complete beginner as guiding someone who wants to develop their own style. If you've ever felt like you can play the notes but haven't found your own voice yet, that's exactly the journey I love to guide.

Every good set of lessons starts with a conversation, so early on I'll want to know what you're actually chasing — the music that moves you, whether you're here to jam, to play for the joy of it, or to build toward something bigger. There are no wrong answers. I just want the path we take to lead somewhere you genuinely want to go.
From there we build the fundamentals, because on the drums they're the ground everything stands on: dependable time, comfortable coordination between your hands and feet, fills that hold together, and real control over how loud, soft, fast, and slow you play. I never treat these as dry drills, though — to me they're the toolkit that eventually sets you free. The stronger your technique, the more you can actually *say* behind the kit.
And that's where I love to take students: past simply keeping time and into creating. Once the basics feel natural, we'll start building your own grooves, improvising fills that fit the music, and developing a feel that's recognizably yours rather than a copy of someone else's. I'll show you how beats are put together so you can start inventing your own instead of only borrowing them. I'll always be honest about what needs work, but kindly, and with a clear, doable next step each time.
Progress like this comes from small, steady, encouraging steps, not heroic bursts — and it's endlessly satisfying to hear. So we'll keep things enjoyable, celebrate the wins as they come, and move at your pace. Wherever you're starting, my hope is the same: to help you become not just a drummer who can hold a beat, but one with a voice of their own.
