The one compliment I get from people is the things I understand I explain them very well. I try to understand exactly where student is struggling and try to find examples student is familiar with and then relate them with subject matter. This helps in better understanding. I DON'T OFFER first lesson for free.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in tutoring during my undergraduate study. During that I used to help my classmates and friends with different engineering topics. That is when I realized teaching is one of my forte. I enjoyed teaching them and received great feedback from them.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Mathematics, Physics and different subjects in electrical/electronics engineering. I personally like Algebra, trigonometry Mechanics and Digital logic design. I guess some parts of geometry or statistics would not be my forte.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Though so many teachers have inspired me but one of them is Qaisar Raza. He taught me higher level Mathematics. He is one of the best Mathematics teachers in town.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The one who first tries to understand why/where the student is struggling with and if possible can link those concepts with topics/experiences they are aware of to help with understanding.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One time in school I was asked a puzzle by someone that there are some birds on two trees A and B. If the 10 birds from tree A go to tree B then total birds on B will become 2 times A. On the other hand if 10 birds from tree B go to tree A, then
then total birds on A will become 3 times on B. So how many birds are there are now on the two trees. I kept randomly picking numbers in an attempt to answer the question but I could not. But after a year or so I realized man I could convert this puzzle into two simultaneous algebraic equations that can solve for birds on A and B. That gave me an exact answer. I was honestly quite amused when I got the answer.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I faced difficulties in management, technical writing type subjects. These soft skills, writing type courses are not my strong point.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

At the core I am an Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Engineer and really like working and developing new products in that field.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

I guess my passion towards teaching and skill set as a tutor make me a Superprof.
