About Juan
Born and raised in Colombia, I grew up bilingual in English and Spanish. I have always enjoyed playing chess, reading books, and playing soccer with my cousins. Throughout high school, I tutored classmates in math and also participated in a volunteer translating program where I helped translate school assignments for Spanish-speaking parents whose children were in elementary school. Now, I am 23 years old and currently a civil engineering student.
With a score of over 1300 on chess dot com, I enjoy playing everyday. I analyze my games often in order to improve my skills.

Patient, funny, kind... definitely recommend

With Juan’s guidance, I have learned various chess openings, defenses, tactics, attacks, and end games. He truly loves the game, and his passion for chess is contagious! He is so patient and encouraging, you can’t help but gain confidence as a player and make progress. I couldn’t imagine a better chess tutor!
