About Nancy
I'm an academic, an entrepreneur and a published writer. It's a pleasure to share my love of reading and writing with students and help them to improve their ability and also prepare for tests. I'm a graduate of Skidmore College and Georgetown U. and majored in English and Education. I've been published in several magazines and am currently working on a book. I worked in Central Europe for 10 years in my own business and enjoyed discovering European history. I have 2 adult sons, and we are a close family.

My teaching approach is student-centered and always begins with what students know. I build on relevant
tools that students can relate to and move into the most sophisticated information they need to learn.
I use different various stimulae that bring in a focus and hopefully an enjoyable comparison, contrast
to help them absorb and recall the particular subject. This is everywhere today in learning and appreciation, whether it is contemporary interpretations of classic literature in films or music, all bring home the information.
I begin with what students know so that they are comfortable moving forward and connect the relevance.
With students who are struggling or resistent, it is important to praise and encourage, first and foremost, and use simpler examples, reading, vocabulary, cartoons literatures, to make learning less arduous and more appealing. I think learning should be fun if possible, and I try to add humor when I can.
In test preparation, the key is repetition, and I work on that with students to help them feel in control of the material.
