About Shane
I have 8+ years of experience working in Elementary schools with students from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade who struggle with reading. Additionally, I have over 2 years of experience tutoring college students in mastering classic and modern literature. I love to read and teach, and it is my mission to make reading and understanding a text a fun adventure.

My approach to teaching is to make reading a fun adventure. I believe that no one "doesn't like reading," we all just need to find what kind of books and content make us feel excited! For younger learners, I focus on engaging stories and questions that prompt deeper thinking about the text. For more sophisticated learners, I approach the content by fostering critical thinking about characters, themes, and subtext.
