About Saloni

I am Saloni, currently living in Chandigarh, India; I am a Masters’ Scholar for English Language and Literature.
I have tutoring experience since 2019, as a part-time private homeschooler in Montessori pattern, and full-time educator during Covid years from home. My primary subject is English and the courses I take vary from the need of the student as explained by their parents in balance with their own proficiency. The said course is for ETL and ESL purposes.

About the lesson

I’ve been following this method since I was instructor for a private educational centre to inculcate students in English fluency and introduction to English literature.
First, we begin with basic syntax through speaking and reading exercises. Followed by grammar introduction. In these steps my primary focus is phonetic clarity of the pupil in delivering the words.
Next, we introduce grammar in a formal way and writing practices. For example tenses; I teach this, since we’re in India and bilingual with Hindi as mother tongue, with translation method to help the student understand English structures through relatively.
Third, in the course of reading I introduce students to child-friendly approach to study literature to develop an appreciation for the language. This enhances their reading and speaking skills, as well as the assignment which consists of review writing or expressing their thoughts on the story/poem aims to polish writing skills. The students are not expected to write reviews more than they are actually able to hence making education of a language more fun and a routine life-skill instead of a qualification requirement.
My entire course is designed on this principle only. I do not want to burden the children into thinking education and learning as something monotonous or boring. Although we cover technical aspects of language in this class, we hope to do so by making language and literature a means of personal experience.

The dialogue box can actually not suffice to explain this course’s formative ideology but I can tell you the kids will, as a result of this, have mastered their proficiency and interest.
