About Mazie
Hello, my name is Mazie, and I am dedicated to helping students succeed in English with patience, creativity, and professionalism. With years of experience supporting learners, I know how to adapt lessons so they meet individual needs rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach. As someone with ADHD, I bring a unique perspective to tutoring. I was not the kid in advanced classes in high school, truthfully. I was a bit of a "black sheep" in school due to the fact I just... didn't learn like everyone else. I understand the frustration that can come with learning challenges, and I offer study strategies and methods that I’ve personally found effective. My goal is to make English not only manageable, but also rewarding. Students can trust that they will receive clear explanations, organized lessons, and consistent encouragement. I take the time to understand each learner’s goals and challenges, building confidence through steady progress and positive reinforcement. As a tutor, I believe learning should feel approachable, encouraging, and personalized. My teaching method is built on patience, adaptability, and creativity. Because I have ADHD myself, I understand the challenges that come with focus and traditional study methods. This allows me to bring unique insights into tutoring, offering alternative techniques and study strategies that help students discover what works best for them.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in over zoom or discord about your goals and any immediate challenges, followed by a focused activity such as reviewing grammar, practicing essay structure, or working through reading comprehension exercises(based on whatever you're struggling with the most at the moment).
I like to break material into manageable steps, using clear explanations and real-life examples to make English less intimidating. Each lesson ends with practical takeaways or study tips you can apply on your own. I will also share a google drive with you at the end of each meeting that has resources, a personalized study guide/outline, as well as any other material used for your specific focus area!
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students who may feel overwhelmed or discouraged by traditional approaches. I use creativity, empathy, and ADHD-informed strategies to make learning feel less like a chore and more like progress.
My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, and college students who need support with English, whether it’s essay writing, grammar, reading comprehension, or developing stronger study habits. I also welcome learners who benefit from extra patience and encouragement as they build confidence.
