About Beth
My name is Beth and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland. I have been teaching English for 4 years, starting when I moved to Madrid, Spain. Teaching has allowed me to meet people from all over the world and learn as much as have I taught!
I began teaching because I always had a passion for English. After high school, I studied English Literature and Classics at the University of Edinburgh. It felt amazing to be with others who loved English the way I did. My studies gave me an appreciation for the power of words, as well as the mechanics of English.
Since leaving university, I have been travelling the world. I spent many years in Portugal and Spain before heading to Latin America. Learning Spanish has definitely made me a better English teacher. As a student, I understand the challenges of learning a new language: it takes a lot of confidence and a lot of mistakes to improve.
Overall, I am very passionate about English and I want to share that with the world!

My teaching style is conversational. All vocabulary and grammar will be practised through relaxed conversations, saving most written exercises for homework! My classes are fun and dynamic, focusing on listening and speaking. I maintain a fast pace throughout the class and encourage students to correct themselves, whenever possible.
A class with me will be tailored to your individual interests so that learning grammar doesn't seem so difficult! Lessons last from 30 minutes to an hour and are for everyone looking to improve their English, no matter their level.
