About Ryan
I'm a fourth-year student at the University of Queensland, majoring in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. With a strong academic background and a passion for sharing knowledge, I'm eager to apply my expertise as a tutor. Specializing in power systems and the testing and commissioning of secondary systems, I'm well-equipped to provide high-quality guidance to students in any subject in the STEM field, but particularly strong in chemistry, physics and maths. My ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, coupled with my dedication to fostering a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere, makes me a reliable and effective tutor. Teaching Methodology: A hands-on and interactive approach to learning. Tutoring sessions focus on: Concept Clarity: Breaking down complex concepts into easily digestible bits, ensuring you grasp the fundamentals before moving to advanced topics. Problem-Solving: Practical application is key. Emphasizing on problem-solving, providing you with the skills to tackle any challenge in Chemistry, Physics, and Math. Visual Aids: Use of visual aids, simulations, and real-world examples to make learning engaging and memorable, cementing conceptual learnings. Progress Tracking: Regular assessments and feedback help fine-tune the approach and track your development. Lesson Structure: Typical Lesson Length: Each lesson is typically 1 to 1.5 hours long. This duration allows for an in-depth exploration of the subject without overwhelming you, but will leave you with key takeaways to build on with future lessons. Qualifications and Experience: As a 4th-year student in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Queensland, I have a strong foundation in the subjects I teach. I've not only excelled in my coursework but also have experience assisting fellow students in understanding and acing these subjects. Going through tutors all through high school I picked up what worked and what was less effective, big organizations unnamed here- would go through set structure for lesson plans with no variance to tutoring lessons, making the sessions repetitive, monotonous and students including myself would very quickly disengage from expensive sessions In the final years of high school I had 3 private tutors for each of math's chemistry and physics, they were all doing it for the love of teaching. Whilst they had a structure about their lessons, they all had a depth of knowledge that far surpassed the content I was working on but this allowed me to ask critical questions deeper than the concepts diving into the real world application and justification of topics to help strengthen my conceptual understanding about the basics and in turn challenging tasks. They all showed up to my graduation to support me, I greatly owe the success of my academic achievements to each of them so far. I would like to pass this on to other students in the STEM field looking for a tutor who wants to make a difference For Whom: Lessons are designed for high school students from year 3 onwards and university-level learners (up to first year) who are studying the depths of Chemistry, Physics, or Math- Catering to a range of ages and levels, tailoring teachings to meet the adverse areas and reinforce concepts unique to each student.
