About Elizabeth
With a Master's in Education in Literacy and a Bachelor's in Education and English, plus my time as an ELA and Reading teacher, I'm well equipped to help you reach your goals.
If you're thinking that you might be too far behind or that it's too late to catch up, you're in the right spot — I can assure you, that's not the case.
We'll work together to find strategies that work for YOU and help you reach your goals.
While I take great pride in my work, the most important part to me is the relationship with my students, and making sure you feel confident and prepared after our sessions.

My teaching method: Each lesson is customized to meet your unique goals and needs, and I work to incorporate your interests where I can — if there's a topic you're excited about, we'll find ways to bring it into our lessons. My approach is practical and skills-based: we focus on concrete strategies, like text annotation, using context clues, and breaking down writing step-by-step.
A typical lesson: I start by checking in on what's been working (or not) since our last session, then move into focused practice on whatever skill or concept we're building . We'll used real examples pulled from your own schoolwork or interests whenever possible.
What sets me apart: I have a Master's degree in Literacy, and I have a particular soft spot for students who struggle with reading and writing. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I take the time to get to know you first, so the strategies I bring fit how you learn.
Who I work with: I primarily work with middle school students (grades 6–8), which is what I taught for most of my career, but I'm glad to work with students a grade or two above or below that range (5th or 9th) as well.
