About Gay
As a licensed English teacher by the state of Oregon, I have been accustomed to designing my lessons according to state standards: creating my curriculum with both a content and language objective in mind. I have been teaching English and ESL for over 15 years both in the US and overseas, in classroom settings and private ones. I've taught hundreds of students ranging in ages from 6 to 65, with successful results such as passing the state tests, TEOFL exams, or simple classroom quizzes.

For sequencing my lesson plans, I use a SIOP template, which automatically ensures the use of differentiated modifications for ESL and IEP students, along with enhanced learning options for advanced learners, while written with your average, middle of the road apprentice in mind! Within this outline, I also incorporate alternative assignments to accommodate student choice based on learning styles and intelligences, via Marzano’s best teaching practices, for the most efficient and data-tested instruction.
My extensive ESL training and overseas teaching has developed my skills for addressing culturally diverse students, and my global travels and world experience gives me an appreciation for students of all ethnic, racial, gendered, and SES backgrounds, as well as a great view of the world.
