About Denise Ockey
I have a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Davis. I have over 20 years experience in chemistry and over 7 years teaching and tutoring chemistry, math, and English. I have taught and tutored students of all ages. I guide students and teach them how to solve problems methodically based on good problem-solving techniques rather than mindless memorization. I teach good note-taking, time management, and proper test-taking strategy. What sets me apart from other tutors is that I really care about each student. I go above and beyond to ensure that each student succeeds with their academic goals. There are many tutors who claim this, but I have proof! I truly am the best tutor available.

I have over 20 years experience teaching and tutoring chemistry. I have taught and tutored students of all ages in General (both Honors and AP) Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. I offer tutoring for both the lab and lecture components of each course. I guide students and teach them how to solve problems methodically based on good problem-solving techniques rather than mindless memorization. My sessions are engaging. I get the student involved during the session and challenge them with my own designed homework problems specifically designed to help each student in areas that need more work. I utilize Zoom and whiteboard for my tutoring sessions. I modify each experience for the needs of each student. I get them involved, and I have a very interactive style that gets the students interested and involved. So, the sessions are very comparable to an in-person tutoring session. She has excellent talent when it comes to teaching and getting you right to the point before it gets to overwhelming.
