About Emma
I am a fully qualified GCSE and A-Level Geography teacher working in a secondary school. I have a PhD and I have been a GCSE and A-Level Geography exam marker for AQA and Edexcel for the last 10 years. I have extensive experience as a former Head of Department in two London based schools and I have taught Geography from year 7 up to year 13. I have particular expertise in teaching A Level geography, in which I have taught both the human and physical sides of the course in AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel and WJEC plus on the IB course.

My academic background and examiner insights mean I don't just teach the syllabus, I use a variety of methods to help students retain and understand the many complex concepts of the subject. I work on exam skills, particularly in writing precise answers, case study analysis, and other strategies to help achieve the top of the marking scheme. This could be looking at model answers, rapid fire quizzes, knowledge charts, 3-minute summaries, and many more techniques that can be tailored to the needs of the student. I know how to turn a good answer into a top response, and several of my previous students have jumped at least two grade boundaries. With one going from an E to a B grade. I am highly organised and will set up a plan of learning in our first session, tailored to the student's needs and requirements.

Perfect! On line lessons with Emma are really helpful to my son Lucas. He is able to go through lessons and extra work to develop his knowledge and skills. His marks have improved and he enjoys this subject now , which was not the case before his tutoring with Emma. Highly recommend her as a tutor.
