About Emma
My name is Emma and I have been head of KS3 English at my school for around a year. Students in my class make excellent progress every year with many achieving above their target (progress). As we enter the new academic year I now have September availability to take on a few students.

I ensure that every lesson is tailored to the needs of the student. My approach is calm, structured, and tailored to each individual learner, with a strong focus on building confidence, independence, and clear progress. For students in KS2 and KS3 my lessons focus on developing their overall literacy skills such as their ability to independently comprehend a text and also their ability to independently write. I am also able to tailor sessions for students for their SATS examination. For students in KS4 my sessions have a specific focus on the exam specification. For their English Literature GCSE my lessons are designed firstly to develop and consolidate their knowledge of the set texts and then to develop their confidence and understanding of exam technique. For the English Language GCSE my sessions focus on developing their reading comprehension and independent writing skills for the exam. As an experienced English teacher and examiner my sessions also provide students with exam model answers at the grade they are aiming for. I hold a PGCE and a degree in English Literature. Over the years, I’ve supported students of all abilities – including those with EAL backgrounds, additional learning needs, or low academic confidence – and have consistently helped them reach national targets and personal goals.
