About Sylvia
I'm a native British, CELTA-qualified teacher who is passionate about educating students through engaging lessons. With my experience in filmmaking, magazine publishing, and ukulele tutoring, I bring a fun, multi-faceted approach to the classroom. I have been teaching for over 7 years and have experience preparing students for Cambridge exams and general English. I work with a variety of ages and adapt my classes to student's personal needs and preferences.

My classes can be informal and fun, for those wanting to practice conversation; or more detailed and focused on achieving specific goals. I provide all the materials, and I'm happy to work with requested topics. Often we will follow the course of a book (Oxford or Cambridge) in order to build the foundation of the language and to develop in a structured way. I make sure my lessons cover all aspects of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

I've been learning with Sylvia for seven years now and through her guidance I've made significant progess.
She's friendly, fun and engaging, and she motivates me to practice and improve. Her lessons are well prepared with a wealth of materials to draw on. Most importantly, they are really tailored to my skills and specific wishes. We often work on songs that I requested, and she always finds something new for me to learn.
I also like that she's pretty flexible with scheduling - if I can't make a session, we usually find another time that works for the both of us.
