About Joshua

I am Joshua, a Psychology graduate with a strong background in one-to-one SEN education and academic mentoring. My work focuses on supporting students who find traditional tutoring ineffective, particularly those who struggle with literacy, organisation, attention, or academic confidence. I take a calm, structured, and psychologically informed approach, building trust first and then developing the skills students need to think clearly, work independently, and make sustained progress. I work professionally with families and adapt carefully to each learner’s needs while maintaining high expectations.

About the lesson

My approach is psychology-led, SEN-informed, and focused on how students think, regulate, and organise ideas rather than rote content delivery. Lessons are typically 60 minutes and adapt responsively to the student’s needs on the day. I specialise in literacy, academic structure, and executive-function support for KS2–A Level students, including those with ASD, ADHD, DLD, or those who struggle with traditional tutoring. I hold a 2:1 Psychology degree and have extensive 1-to-1 experience in SEN education. I also send detailed weekly reports.

Joshua did some great work with my son. He went from not very talkative and capable to a very talkative and capable young man and I was very proud of the work he put in. Joshua‘s guidance and encouragement was very helpful. We have seen a marked improvement in James's school work. His teachers have been surprised. I totally recommend Joshua if you’re child requires specialist learning help.
