About Ashley
Hello! I’m an experienced educator with 10 years of teaching experience, with 9 of those years spent in special education working with students with a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and communication needs.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Education. My years in special education have taught me that patience, flexibility, encouragement, and a good sense of humor can make a huge difference in learning!
I truly enjoy helping students recognize what they are capable of and watching their confidence grow along with their skills. I strive to create a positive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again.
When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me spending time with my pets, watching Friends for probably the millionth time, or enjoying tacos and a Dr Pepper. I’m excited to bring the same energy, patience, and encouragement I use in my classroom to each tutoring session.

Learning doesn’t have to feel frustrating or overwhelming! I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged, and successful. As an experienced special education teacher, I know that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to meet each learner exactly where they are.
My tutoring sessions are relaxed, positive, and interactive. We’ll typically start with a quick review or warm-up, then work on targeted reading or English skills through a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, games, visuals, and activities that match the student’s interests. Depending on their needs, we may work on phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammar, or writing.
One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is finding a different way to teach something when the first way doesn’t click. I’m patient, flexible, and a big believer in celebrating progress—even the little wins! My goal is for students to leave our sessions feeling more confident than when they started.
I primarily work with elementary and middle school students, including students who need a little extra practice as well as students with learning differences, developmental disabilities, or other unique learning needs. Whether your child is struggling with reading, needs extra reinforcement, or simply learns better with individualized attention, I’ll meet them where they are and help them grow from there!
