About Chicane

I have experience working as a SEN teaching assistant, supporting children and young people with a range of needs, alongside my background as a qualified therapist. I am passionate about helping students feel more confident in themselves and their abilities, particularly those who may find learning challenging or overwhelming.

My experience has allowed me to develop a calm, patient and approachable style, creating a safe and supportive space where students feel comfortable to learn and grow. I understand that confidence plays a huge role in academic success, which is why I focus on building both self-belief and understanding.

I chose to tutor because I genuinely enjoy working with children and making a positive difference in their learning. Seeing students gain confidence and begin to enjoy subjects they once struggled with is incredibly rewarding to me.

About the lesson

I specialise in supporting children who may lack confidence, feel overwhelmed, or need a more personalised and approachable way of learning.

My lessons are personalised to each student, focusing on building confidence as well as academic skills. I understand that every child learns differently, so I adapt my approach using a mix of structured learning, creativity and engaging activities to keep lessons enjoyable and effective.

I support students across a range of levels, including primary and secondary English, literacy, reading and writing, as well as general school support and 11+ preparation. I break down topics in a way that feels manageable and clear, helping students to build strong foundations and improve their understanding over time.

I also incorporate elements of creativity, such as discussion, visual learning and interactive tasks, to help students stay engaged and retain information.

With my background as a therapist and experience supporting children, I create a calm, supportive and approachable environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and make mistakes. My aim is not just to improve grades, but to help students feel more confident in their abilities and develop a positive attitude towards learning.
