About Alex

Hello everyone! My name is Alex, and I am a Javascript enthusiast with one year of experience in the field. I recently completed a rigorous coding bootcamp called Codesmith, where I received comprehensive training in computer science and software engineering. I am passionate about the power of coding and the impact it can have on the world, and I am eager to share my knowledge with others.

I am looking for beginning level students who are eager to learn the basics of Javascript and how to use it to build amazing websites and web applications. My approach to teaching is hands-on and practical, with a focus on helping students understand the logic and concepts behind the code. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some prior experience, I am confident that I can help you achieve your goals.

If you would like to learn more about my background and experience, you can check out my LinkedIn profile at (concealed information) Let's start coding!

As a JavaScript teacher, I thoroughly enjoy helping others understand the power and versatility of this programming language. I find it incredibly rewarding to see my students develop their skills and gain confidence in their ability to code. It's incredibly fulfilling to witness the lightbulb moments when a student grasps a concept that was previously confusing, and to help them build the foundation they need to continue learning and growing as a programmer. I also enjoy the creative challenge of developing engaging and effective lesson plans and exercises that can help my students learn in a fun and interactive way. Overall, I feel grateful to have found a career that combines my passions for technology and teaching, and I look forward to helping my students achieve their goals and unlock their potential as coders.

I got into teaching through my experiences at Codesmith, a coding bootcamp where I honed my skills as a developer. While I was there, I had the opportunity to mentor new residents and help them navigate the challenging curriculum. I found that I really enjoyed helping others understand complex concepts and watching their skills grow, and I realized that teaching was a natural fit for me. My experiences at Codesmith helped me develop the skills and knowledge I need to be an effective teacher, and I am excited to bring my passion for coding and mentorship to the next generation of students.

As a graduate from the prestigious coding bootcamp Codesmith and a former Supply Chain Analyst with 4 years of experience writing VBA scripts, I bring a unique combination of technical expertise and real-world experience to my role as a Javascript teacher. My background in supply chain and experience with VBA scripts has given me a deep understanding of the practical applications of coding and the ways in which technology can be used to solve complex problems. And my education at Codesmith has honed my skills in JavaScript, giving me the knowledge and ability to teach students the fundamentals of this powerful programming language. With my combination of technical knowledge and practical experience, I am well-equipped to help my students achieve their goals in coding and reach their full potential as developers.

As a teacher, when I work with a new student who is learning Javascript fundamentals, I typically follow these steps:

Assessment: I start by assessing the student's current level of knowledge and understanding of programming concepts. This could involve a brief conversation or a series of questions to determine the student's prior experience and goals.

Setting Goals: Based on the assessment, I work with the student to set clear goals for what they want to achieve during the learning process. This could include specific topics they want to cover, projects they want to build, or coding concepts they want to master.

Developing a Learning Plan: Based on the student's goals and background, I develop a customized learning plan that outlines the topics I will cover, the resources I will use, and the milestones we will aim to reach.

Hands-On Learning: The bulk of the learning process involves hands-on coding, where the student writes and runs code under my guidance. I provide feedback and answer questions as needed to help the student understand the concepts and improve their skills.

Review and Assessment: Regularly reviewing the student's progress and assessing their understanding of the material is an important part of the learning process. This could involve quizzes, coding assignments, or projects that the student completes on their own.

Refining the Learning Plan: Based on the student's progress and feedback, I may refine the learning plan to ensure that they are getting the support and guidance they need to reach their goals.

Every student is different, so the process may vary depending on their background, goals, and learning style. But these steps provide a general outline of the way I typically work with new students who are learning Javascript fundamentals.

During my time at Codesmith, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students from various industries, including healthcare, finance, education, and hospitality. This experience has given me a broad understanding of the ways in which programming concepts can be applied to a range of fields, and has helped me develop a flexible and adaptable teaching style that can meet the needs of students with a wide range of backgrounds and goals.

As a student looking to hire a JavaScript teacher, there are a few things you should keep in mind to ensure you find the right fit for your needs:

Determine your goals: Before you start looking for a teacher, it's important to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve through your lessons. This could include learning the fundamentals of JavaScript, building specific projects, or improving your skills in a certain area. Knowing your goals will help you find a teacher who can provide the support and guidance you need.

Look for experience: Make sure to look for a teacher who has experience in both coding and teaching. A teacher with a solid background in coding will have the knowledge and skills to help you achieve your goals, while a teacher with experience in teaching will know how to communicate complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand.

Be honest about your needs: Finally, it's important to be honest about your needs and what you are looking for in a teacher. This will help you find someone who can provide the support and guidance you need to reach your goals.

The standard pricing system for classes with me involves a free first session to assess the student's current level of knowledge and understanding of programming concepts, and to give the student an opportunity to get a sense of my teaching style and determine if I would be a good fit. Following the initial session, classes are charged at an hourly rate of $25 per hour. This allows for flexible scheduling and the ability to tailor the class to the student's individual needs and pace.
