About Jay
Hello everyone. My name is Jay D. Hurt but you can call me Coach. The service I provide stands out by encouraging spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical growth in every person. I am the one who will assist you in being transparent, transitioning, and transforming into a better player and person for life.
My services will spark 5 things in a person' life as we train
1. Empower individuals to take responsibility for their thoughts on and off the court.
2. Encouraging individuals to feel confident about themselves.
3. Assisting individuals to identify their passion, goals, dreams, vision, and how to go after it.
4. Create a safe environment for individuals to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
5. Assisting individuals to come up with solutions for problematic situations.

The thing I enjoy the most is seeing individuals grow and progress in every area of their lives. I love to see people overcome and succeed in life. There is a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment in life seeing the growth of others.

Honestly, I got started teaching when my wife had my three sons and two daughters. And now all of them are grown living their lives. My own starting five.
I'm currently a student at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing my Bachelors of Psychology. I am a certified Life Coach certified by Life Coach Institute, Costa Mesa, California. Most of all my experience of being a player, recreation coach, love for the game of basketball and love for people has been has been my training ground.

I have worked with at risk youth at Intercept Youth Services in Richmond, Va. as well as mentoring at St. Joseph Villa in Glen Allen Virginia.
I would encourage a student to be open to the teacher but at the end of the day it's their decision to put in the work.
The most recent event I am fond is that I have a grand daughter.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before sharing their needs with a teacher, they should think about what their goals are and how they wish to accomplish them. I am a firm believer that a students will be more accountable to their own goals as they share what they need form the teacher at that moment.
