About Emma
Hey! I’m a Duke University graduate, majoring in psychology, with minors in chemistry and education. I currently work in New York as a life sciences consulting analyst, supporting biopharmaceutical companies with strategic decision-making at the product and corporate levels.
I'm super passionate about education and have over 3 years of teaching experience ranging from elementary math to college-level chemistry. Having scored in the 100th-percentile on the MCAT, I believe any standardized test is a science - and that there really is a systematic way to approach them. I teach my students not only content, but on creating sustainable study strategies that help them in the long-term.
I’ve always been interested in how kids think, and am completing my honors thesis at the Early Childhood Cognition Lab on moral development. I most recently interned in life sciences consulting and plan to pursue an MD/MBA dual degree, integrating clinical expertise with business and entrepreneurship at the healthcare systems level. Outside of that I was the co-president of Duke Club Badminton, an organic chemistry TA, and working on my research at the Duke Program in Education. I also worked with the Emily K Center, a local Durham nonprofit, in college admissions counseling for high schoolers since 2022, and have significant experience with guidance on college applications and essay writing. The experience was sooo personalized. Emma looked over a test of mine (i was failing at this time btw) and pinpointed exactly what i needed to learn. instead of just making me memorize things, she made sure i actually understood them. My grade went from a D+ to an A-, and my sisters went from a B to an A. I wouldn’t have passed without her - she better than any teacher at school!!
She was hands-down the best tutor I have ever had. She thoroughly answered all my questions, was patient when explaining concepts and made sure I understood what I was doing before moving on to the next topic. I never felt rushed or confused when she helped me.
She is a great tutor!!! She explains everything in detail and I was able to understand everything after she taught. She helped me prepare for my upcoming tests and I was able to get pretty good grades.
