About Drew
As an instructor, I pride myself on the safe space and relationship that I create with my student! Growth as an artist is so much easier when the student feels supported and welcomed in their environment! Dancing should be exciting and fun and that is what I always try and bring to my class. Dance is also very tough and a great workout and I believe I provide a wonderful and stamina building class.
The art form of dance is one of the most imporant aspects of my life! It is incredible how, as people, we are able to share stories and emotions through dance, while also raising our heart rate and staying in shape! I love seeing the growth that my students experience and the love that they begin to feel for dance throughout the process.
I served as an associate for a director of dance at various schools and organizations for many years. After this, I took on some of his students and classes and began my own career in teaching!
I have been dancing and involved in the arts scene for quite a while now. I have toured on the National Tour of Billy Elliot the Musical and worked with many various Broadway, film, and TV choreographers! I have taught dance for many years at various organizations including the Professional Performing Arts School and ManahttanYouth. These classes include Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Tap, and more!

For new students, I will usually get to know them by starting off with some basic dance techniques, like barre excersises and across the floor. Then, we'd move on to the center, where we'd practice various combinations and memorization techniques!
I have worked with many different students varying in age, style, and level. I have worked with Broadway dancers and actors, children exploring the world of performance, and others just looking to begin in dance! I am comfortable teaching all levels and all kinds of people.
A personal connection with your teacher is always important. A student should want someone that challenges them while also inspiring them. Someone with a large amount of experience is neccessary to be able to create connections and to feel confident in their area of expertise!
I am currently working on a fundraiser called the Dance-A-Thon for GMHC raising money for AIDS awareness! This is a great event in Central Park that involves the arts and donating for a great cause!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student should think about what they are truly interested in as a performer and whether or not they believe this teacher can give that to them! It is always important for the student to feel as though their are in a safe space with room for error and success! Various questions would include more details on what the class would consist of, where the growth would eventually go towards as a student and performer, and other details to ensure the students comfort and safety!
