About Megan

My mother was an English teacher and I was born reading and writing. Throughout high school I excelled in English and completed all honors English courses including AP language. I competed in literary competitions and am proficient in all essay writing, including literary analysis, creative writing, scientific journal writing, and more.

B.A. Psychology - University of South Carolina

I am not teaching certified but I have been assisting in writing essays as well as English skills since I can remember. I have a passion for the subject and would love to utilize my skills in order to assist the success in students I encounter.

High school: Honors English 1, Honors English 2, AP Languange. Competed in several writing competitions and excelled on the AP English exam proficient in rhetorical analysis and research essays.

College: English 2, scientific journal writing, essay writing, grant report writing, research essay writing, and resume building.

About the lesson

Essay writing: We will start by going over the goals for your essay. From there we will formulate an outline to gather thoughts together and make sure your ideas flow logically for your essay and achieve the overall essay goal. Then you will write a rough draft which I will comment suggestions on to make the essay stronger. Finally you will write a final draft that I can further review. If your essay is already written, I can edit your essay and make suggestions to make it stronger

Reading: I will emphasize note taking strategies as well as analytical reading strategies to ensure you comprehend the reading you are doing. I am well read and can offer constructive feedback and tips to help reading comprehension chapter by chapter.

Grammar: Everyone's least favorite subject, made easy. We will begin by identifying points of weakness within your grammar abilities. From there we will take the process step by step through examples and quizzes to ensure comprehension of grammar skills.

I have assisted with students in elementary school to post-college writing.
