About Jane
As a Highly QUALIFIED and Passionate Tutor, I have DECADES of TEACHING EXPERIENCE, in addition to both Intervention & Enrichment Tutoring for K-12th Grades. I was honored to receive, "The Unsung Teacher Hero Award," for 2019-2020, for all of San Diego County teachers. My primary goal is for my students to LOVE LEARNING, and to INSPIRE YOUR child or YOU, to become a lifelong learner. I truly enjoy helping HIGH SCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS to write creative and powerful ESSAYS for both class assignments & UNIVERSITY ADMISSION Applications. I also have high expertise in Reading, English Grammar & ESL in Grades K-12.
I LOVE KIDS, and have 33 YEARS of classroom experience working in a DIVERSE Community. My EXPERTISE is in all subject areas, but I especially enjoy English Language Arts. My students make an average of 1.5-2 years growth during the school year. Helping students THRIVE is my passion.

My philosophy is child centered. I will assess the child to get a baseline benchmark. I then will differentiate the curriculum based on the student's needs. This allows for students to have any gaps filled in, while following the curriculum. I ask lots of questions in order to discover the correct learning style of each student, which will maximize student growth. I also strive to discover both strengths and weaknesses, so we can instill self confidence and high expectations for learning.
My 33 years teaching experience allowed me to work with ALL types of students with every LEARNING STYLE. The bulk of my students were 2nd Language Learners.
Look for the BEST! You need a teacher/tutor with expertise and experience in order to gain the skills needed to reach GOALS.

Perfect! She is an excellent teacher. She is very nice, fun and she knows how to encourage kid to learn.
My son has been doing writing tutoring which was his least favorite subject, and now he is enjoying the writing.Perfect! Working with Jane is rewarding. As an older ESL student (French/45), I find it important to better my English. Jane is flexible in her approach, and she helps me with specific topics of interest. She also helps me feel more confidence while speaking English. We have worked consistently together for about a couple months now, and even if I still have some ways to go, I am grateful for the progress I’ve made.

Jane is personable and works very well with my son. She is on time, and utilizes that time effectively. Jane is energetic, engaging, and a great tutor!
She is very enthusiastic with teaching my daughter. Also, her experience as a retired teacher shows with her management skills when tutoring my daughter. She has developed a wonderful relationship with my daughter very quickly and my daughter is very excited when Mrs. Staples is there to teach her. She’s AWESOME!!!!
