About Matthew

Writing and English Studies are a true joy to discover and learn. My goal is to introduce students to practical methods that will not only result in an improvement in their grades but also instill a new found love for writing and communication.

I am currently a senior studying Political Science and Philosophy at Emmanuel College. I received outstanding scores in both writing and vocabulary sections of the SAT. I have experience in both the AP English Literature and Language tests. Outside of strict academic environments, I published a novel in 2019 called, "Notes from the Quarry."

In terms of work experience, I was previously an active contributer to the Valley Breeze tri-county newspaper. Further, I have published numerous short stories and literary essasys to publications including, The Saintly Review and Scarlett Leaf Magazine.

Writing is a tool that is essential in almost every aspect of the working world. Whether it is crafting a proposal for a new work idea or writing cover letters to potential employers, writing can help elevate students and give them a competitive edge in ther future endeavors. My greatest hope is to be a part of that learning process and help as many students as I can achieve their personal goals.

I have worked as a tutor in both high school and college levels. Most recently I worked as an english writing tutor for my college's academic resource center.

About the lesson

First, it is important to gain an understanding of what the particular student is hoping to achieve. I prefer to gai an understanding of the student's prior work in order to develop strategies to increase the quality of forthcoming assignments.

Writing and schoolwork are generally immensely personal endeavors. Building trust is vital in order to ensure that lessons taught are valued and accepted by students.

College and high school students
