About Nicholas

I have a passion for teaching and education. I firmly believe that literature and creative writing will help students think outside the box in other subjects as well such as teh sciences to help solve problems in those fields.

Seacondly, forming critical thinking skills here will allow them to be applied anywhere.

I enjoy helping people. Happiness is a personal experience. Joy is something that is a shared experience.

I was inspired by my high school teachers.

I have a  Bachelor's degree in liteatureand writing. I have an extentive knowledge of various works  and writing styles from around the world.

First step in my process is understand the student's method of thinking and figuring something out. This is important for three reasons.  First, it allows me to understand how to explain certain ideas and texts that will be used in the tutoring. Secondly, this will allow me to explain better to the student how to do something  if the wrong conclusion or writing error was made by the student. Lastly, this will allow me to think like the student when looking at a text.

Secondly, understand what engages the student's interests and why. Students will always learn better if it is something they enjoy. By finding out what genres of literature they will enjoy reading or writing this makes teh process easier for the student and allows them to understand concets quicker. This, in turn, will help the student read through and undersatnd texts that they would not normaly want to read or write about.

Thirdly, understand what liteature and writing the student does not enjoy. This is just as important as the above stated. This is because if the student is going over text that does not engage them, some students may find it diffcult to learn anything about the text or  find writing about it more of a chore than something they need to do for school.

Finally, have the student write a four page  paper on any subject they choose before anyother tutoring is done. This will help me understand the student's skill with writing in general. This will be used further down the line as the student revises the paper periodically to reflect the student's enhanced skill level.

Grades 4-8 and High School.

Don't be scared to ask questions. How else will you learn?

Don't be scared of new ideas. How else will you grow?

Always try to keep your interests eclectic. You will have a greater range of knowledge with you that way.

Look for what works for you. That is how you help yourself work in what doesn't.

I  was asked gleeful when I had come across of rare books.

My standard pricing is 10 dollars per hour. I feel that students should have acess to a good tutor that is affordable. Secondly, in these times of uncertainty, I feel that asking for more is simply heedlessly ignominious.
