About Nikki

One thing that really makes my tutoring stand out is I love helping kids and creating a comfortable and safe space for students to ask questions. I also make it a fun online environment and create ways to keep the student engaged and motivated to finish their assignments. I have each of my students tell me what they are struggling with and then together we make a goal list and game plan so they can slowly but steadily achieve their goals in the process of learning!

My favorite part about tutoring is seeing a student go from being unsure about themselves and confused, to being confident and determined that they can accomplish whatever they set their mind to!

When the pandemic first started I had to quit my job working at a restaurant and find alternative ways to make money while still being in school. I have always loved teaching kids and I decided to start an independent tutoring business online and tutor in English, Mandarin Chinese, History, Writing Essays, and Religion. I absolutely love helping students and seeing them grow from being unsure about themselves, to being confident and proud of accomplishing their goals in their subject/subjects they've been struggling with.

In high school I took English Honors for three years and then my senior year took AP Literature. In college I took two advanced English/Writing courses and since early last year I have been tutoring mainly middle school and high school kids in English. I also am a Chinese Minor so I tutor in Mandarin Chinese and have been taking Chinese since 6th grade. I tutor high school students in Mandarin. Additionally, I tutor in college essays/personal statements and help students with editing and making their essay the best it can be!

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is getting to know them, letting them tell me a little bit about what teaching style they work best to, and then going over what they need help with and organizing their work so we can create a plan and they don't feel so overwhelmed.

I have worked with as young as 8 years old, to as old as 17 years old. My main clientele ranges from middle school to high school though.

Details

My standard pricing system for my tutoring sessions is 30 an hour. I am graduating university early in a couple months so I think that rate is reasonable for all the knowledge and experience I have on the subjects I teach.
