About Cassidy
I have been tutoring students in math since I was in middle school. I have learned to work with students of all backgrounds and all disabilities. I tailor my lesson plans and practice problems to every student. I understand that every student learns in a different way and I make sure to listen to every students' needs.
I have tutored in every course from AP stats to elementary algebra. I have a degree in chemistry and have taken and passed the AP courses Calculus AB and Calculus BC. In college I fell in love with statistics, but in the end decided on chemistry as my major, which still involves a ton of math.
Math has always been my favorite subject and there is no better feeling than seeing a student become comfortable with math. I find that some students give up on math at a young age when they come across a very difficult concept. I see this as an invitation to teach the student that math is not scary at all and can actually be very enjoyable. While I try to not focus on grades, I do find it very rewarding when my students receive "A"s in their math classes. It has always been my passion to help people, and this is the way I love to help people the most.
Growing up my teachers noticed that I enjoyed and picked up math very easily, and recommended students ask me for help with math. I found that I enjoyed helping students with math and from then on I always tutored.
I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry which required many upper division mathematic classes in college. I worked as a math tutor for my college and also tutored in high school and middle school.

In my first session with a new student I like to spend a few minutes learning about them. I like to know what they do for fun and see if I can incorporate anything about them into the learning. I then ask the student what they want out of our sessions and what their goals are for their classes. I also ask if they were given a general idea of all they will be taught in their class for the year so that I can make lesson plans and prepare accordingly.
I have tutored students ranging in ages from 7yrs old - 22 yrs old. All of the students have been in various courses from AP courses, to college courses, to general math classes. Also, I have tutored students with dyslexia and dysgraphia.
Look for a teacher that fits your needs and that you feel comfortable with. Not every teacher will be a right fit, but you have to feel that you can be open with your teacher. For example, if the way a teacher is teaching does not help at all, the student needs to be comfortable enough to speak up and say: "This isn't making sense, can you please explain it a different way?" Overall, finding the right teacher is all about what the student needs in a teacher.
The most recent student I tutored was taking AP Statistics and when I first started meeting with him he was failing the course. By the end of the semester he passed the class with an A. He thanked me and I could tell from all our session that he truly understood the curriculum, felt comfortable with statistics and actually fell in love with statistics. I was and am still so proud of him.
