About Tae Jung

I started teaching since 2016, and I taught every day without any break in between.

My education is in Environmental Engineering. I have Master's Degree in the field from UC Berkeley. It means that I have education in both Calculus math and Physics.

I taught students for 5 years, and I am proficient at teaching the most High School level math subjects such as Algebra II, Trignometry, Pre-Calculus, Calulus AB and BC.

About the lesson

First, I start with having lots of conversation. The purpose is to find out common interest, to know the student's goal, and learn the level of enthusiasm. Learning about common interest help me keep the student's attention as I can draw in examples that would have them interested. Knowing student's goal helps me adjust how I should teach the student with which focus. Learning about the level of enthusiam helps me adjust amount of necessary work demand from the student.

Second, I have the student work at problems that they are currently learning in school to judge the student's competency level. Base on the competency level, I adjust the level of instructional difficulty for the student.

I have worked with various types of students, and every student has thier unique challenges. To name a few, students can be more motivated, less motivated, high subject competent, low subject competent, goal-oriented, and forced by parents. Each students require different type of approach, and the approach should be forged between me and the student through conversation.

One of my first student called me hours before he went to mandatory military service in South Korea. We talked about his life goal, and what he aims to do. I could not be more proud of him, and I was greatful that he remembered to call me.

Standard pricing system is hourly based, and only receive money for the hours taught. However, I try to keep the same overall amount of hours in any given school year, and I use hour balance sheet to achieve this goal.

Teaching hours are logged and tracked, and additional hours are added to the balance sheet. For example, if students would like extra tutor hours to prepare for an exam, then I would provide the service while logging in the addional hour. Later that week, the students might want to skip the scheduled tutor hour because they rather study for other classes; the logged additional hour would be used to cover the skipped class.
