About Crystal
My service stands out because I treat each student as an individual and take the time to figure out how they learn best. Each student is different and what works for one or even most may not work for all.
I thoroughly enjoy being able to help a child go from complete confusion about a concept or subject to complete understanding. Until they can explain it to someone else, they most likely do not have this understanding and that is what I strive for. I have been teaching children for over 10 years now, especially in the topic of reading. It is amazing watching a kid that previously could not read start to read every single word around them. I have also really enjoyed teaching math and passing along the "math hacks" I was taught by my mom. Most kids simply hate math because they don't understand it.
My initial experience came from helping my grandmother with her in-home daycare as a child. This really kickstarted my interest in childcare and led me to work in a daycare in high school where I was able to assist the teachers and gain actual teaching experience.
I previously worked as a nanny, tutor, and teacher's assistant. The combination of the three have really been real-life experience training for me in working with children.

I first have a conversation with the student to get a general understanding of their personality and usually through this conversation, I am able to pick up on clues about how they learn.
I have worked with a lot of students in grades K-2 teaching them the concepts of reading, comprehension, and writing. Another major group I have worked with is the elementary and middle school math group.
