About Jenna
I truly love working with students & helping them to understand math - whether it's helping them with homework, study skills, or going over new topics.
Although I've taught high school math for five years, I enjoy working with kids of all ages. I've worked with all ages from kindergarden up to college, and truly enjoy being able to help people understand math better than they did before.
Math has always been my favorite subject & I was always that student in my high school classes who would finish the work early & walk around to help the other students in the room.
Earning my Girl Scout Gold Award during my sophomore year of high school really solidified that I wanted to pursue a teaching career, and that I wanted to teach high school.
I'm a high school math teacher in my 5th year of teaching & have my full virtual teaching set-up at home which will make it easy to tutor virtually.
I began tutoring when I was 16 years old, and have done both private tutoring & worked at tutoring centers over the course of the last 12 years.
In addition, I earned my Girl Scout Gold Award by developing & implementing lesson plans, manipulatives, & educational summer school mathematics activities; as well as piloting a program for K-4 students in a day care program.

I strive to get to know my students & their specific learning styles so that I can implement the curriculum in a way that best meets their needs. I'm comfortable working with students who need specialized accommodations, & always try to make learning fun. :)
As a teacher, I've worked with a wide range of students who have IEPs, 504's, as well as different learning styles, etc.
To make sure the teacher is qualified to teach the subject you're seeking help in, and to just trust your gut - you want to work with someone who you will feel comfortable with.
My 2-year old nephew is talking a lot more now & has gotten really good at saying "Aunt Jenna" and Dexter, the cat's name, which has been really fun to see and talk to him over Facetime.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about what's worked for them in the past, as well as what they're looking to get out of the tutoring.
For example:
Do they just want help with their homework?
Are they looking for help with organizational/study skills as well, or just strictly going over content?
Do they want someone to review their notes with them or cover new material?
Do they want someone who is going to challenge them and make them think critically about the problems instead of just giving them the answers?
Do they want someone who is just going to tell them if they're right or wrong without making them come to that comclusion themselves first?
