About Alex
First and foremost I am here to help you build skills to solve the problems you encounter, not just get you to an answer. You can expect compassion and guidance while learening from me and together we will build new ways of thinking about problems. Personally, I am a college student and have taken advanced math throughout highschool and college including algebra, trigonometry, and multivariable calculus. I have always been a straight A student in my math career and enjoy facing new challenges more than anything else.
I have always been a teacher. I have great communication skills as well as stress management so teaching was almost built into my DNA. Helping others is my passion and as a college student I have bills to pay so I figured I could make a small business out of my passion.
I took honors algebra I and II in middles school along with basic trigonometry and then throughout high school I completed honors calculus I, II, and III along with some more advanced trigonometry and an intro to discrete math. In college I retook calculus I, II, and III at the college level as well as a full course in discrete math. At all levels throughout my education I was always in my math room working with my teacher and friends to complete any challenge problems or extra credit I could and I was often found tutoring my peers when they were not understanding the concepts we were learning.

Firstly, I want to get to know them first so you can expect a little bit of small talk. I believe the best way to start teaching someone is to understand how they think. In light of this, I would like to see how you normally would start a problem and once I see how you like to go about finding solutions I will offer help and guidance and new startegies as we work on more challenges.
I have worked with lots of middle school students. My little brother is in middle school so I help him and his friends very often and they all seem to like me which is great. But I can adapt to many students. I have always been helping my friends in whatever subject we were working on. As long as you have a willingness to learn and respect for what I am saying we will work great together.
I would say do not rely on me for all the answers. Doing my job successfully would not include guiding you to the answer for each specific problem we work on but rather helping you build new ways of thinking that can you can try applying to different problems even after I am not there with you. So always be looking for ways you can solve the problem without me.
I am always fond of times I am able to stand up for the people I care about. I do not belive this counts as recent but I was almost expelled in elementary school because a bully was pushing my friend around so I intervened and pushed him to the ground. This highlights the kind of person I am and will always hold a special place in my memory because it is probably the first time I realized how I wanted to lead my life.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would recommend taking a step back and figuring out what you know from the problem. You should identify what you need to figure out at the end and what you are given to solve it. So I would recommend not asking me anything until you have identified the tools the problem gives you as well as some sort of attempt at solving it. But of course I will be there every step of the way to ensure you will learn the importasnt strategies of this problem.

Prices are relatively negotioable at this point. Tutoring on higher concepts such as calculus III will be more expensive than a session on algebra I. However I have lots of background in math and problem solving so I appreciate it if you will not try to scam me over. All prices will be agreed upon before the session so there is no confusion.
