About Elliott
Experience working with K-12 in disciplines such as mathematics, chemistry, physics, and engineering. I am a senior at MIT pursuing degrees in Physics and Literature. I don't give up. I specialize in teaching new and creative ways to solve problems, and doing funny voices to impersonate asymptotes.
The moment where the person I'm tutoring suddenly "gets it" and figures out what had been confusing them, and their eyes light up and they scribble down the answer. That's what it's all about, for me.
I've been teaching my little siblings and cousins for a long, long time.

First I ask the student what makes them excited about school. I ask what types of learning styles help them learn the best. If the student can't identify that, I ask them what a typical class period with their favorite teacher ever would go. Then, once I've established some positivity, I ask what they struggle with, and we can tackle that.
Make sure you can laugh with your tutor. Make sure they know how to address your weaknesses, but even more importantly make sure they know how to work with your strengths.
