About Christopher

I am an aspiring tutor and educator who has earned a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design from Southern New Hampshire University, and an Associate degree of Visual Communications from ITT Technical Institute. I graduated with highest honors at ITT Tech, and Cum Laude at Southern New Hampshire University. I have always been an advocate for education and have shown a strong determination to succeed and surpass normal expectations. With those I aspire to tutor, I will try to ensure that they share the same passion and push themselves beyond the satisfactory level required of them at their school. My specialties are graphic design, digital media, math and algebra, and American history. I have used the Adobe Creative Suite of software for print and media graphics for nearly 10 years, and have always been above the satisfactory level at general mathematics and algebra. My favorite American history topics to learn are Revolutionary era and Civil War history. Thank you for looking at my profile and I hope to help you with your assignments and studies!

What I enjoy about helping with graphic design, math and history is being able to see someone succeed, graduate, and become the person they aspire to be. No person should be left behind when trying to better themselves for their future career job. Everyone deserves a chance at living the best life they can live, and if that means learning a new math formula, how to use a new design tool, or finding out how our country began, then I know what I did to contribute to that will be worth it.

I actually have not had any professional teaching experience, but am aspiring to become either a high school or community college teacher. I would love to teach either graphic design, digital media, mathematics, algebra, or American history someday, and am planning on going for a Masters of Education degree so that I may do so.

I have a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and an Associate degree in Visual Communications. For students in need of graphic design, digital media, and advertising tutoring, I can impart my knowledge of software programs and design skills to them and help lead them down the right track. As for math and history, I have completed up to intro to trigonometry in both high school and college with no lower than an A- on all of my assignments, and have done the same with American history in high school and community college.

First, I try and get to know the student so that I can determine what kind of learner they are (visual, auditory, etc.). Once I develop an understanding of who they are, I will then ask to see what they are struggling with (i.e. math problems, formulas, general questions and concerns). I then ask them what they think, or ask them what they may know already that may help steer them in the right direction (i.e. what formula(s) are you familiar with?, what design tools are you comfortable using?). Finally, I try and lead them in the right direction by giving them a step-by-step explanation of a given formula, design tool, or what may have happened during a given era of history, so that they can learn how to successfully answer the questions and complete the assignment.

Look for someone who is able to be a friend and mentor. Knowing the information is a good thing, but having someone who can be a friend and help mentor you in the subject you are struggling with can also help you to better focus and understand the material. In other words, having someone who can make learning the material fun and interesting can greatly inspire you to want to understand the material and get the grades you need to succeed.

I had the opportunity to graduate with my undergraduate class at Manchester, New Hampshire in May, which gave me the opportunity to visit Boston, Massachusetts while I was there. I was able to take in famous historical buildings, such as the Old State House and Faneuil Hall, as well as historical sights, such as Boston Harbor, Boston Common Park, and the sight of the Battle of Bunker Hill.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much of the material do you want to learn? Do you only want to know enough to pass the class, or do you want to understand the material as a means of improving your odds of getting the career job of your dreams? Because just learning enough to pass the class, though beneficial in the moment, will require less discipline than wanting to retain the information permanently for a future career.
