About Adam
I specialize in online tutoring and helping students reach their potential from the comfort of their own homes. I have been teaching for 10 years and exclusively online since 2020! Since moving to solely online teaching I have been names Best of this website in 2020, 2021, & 2022.
I have experience in general education classrooms (all subjects K-12), special education (PreK-12) and Music (5-12, college)
I love working to find the niche that each student has and then expanding from there to incorporate their interests into other subjects. This is the great thing about one-on-one tutoring! You can really get to know each student, their interests, and their goals! I love being able to tap into that and help them reach their full potential.
I started teaching at the age of 20 in private education. I taught choir to 6th–8th graders. As the programs grew, my jobs grew. By the time I left that school, I was the athletic director, JH/HS band director, 3rd–8th general music teacher, and JH/HS choir director.
For the last 3 years, I have been teaching all subjects in middle school and high school, as well as special education, online to students all over the country.

Establish a good first impression with students and make them feel comfortable to want to continue to learn and grow. I use a lot of humor in my work. Typically if a student needs a tutor, they struggle with that particular area. If we can make it fun and have fun in the process we can start to look at challenging material in a postive way.
I work with all types of students from PreK - High School. I have experience as a classroom teacher and individual tutor in all subject areas
Most recently I have worked with middle/high school special education students and elementary level reading/spelling and math students.
1. Test drive some teachers and sit in on some lessons! It's okay to try one session before we commit to hiring a tutor and most tutors understand that.
2. Go with your gut - if you think that your child clicks with that tutor, they will probably engage better which means positive results.
I'm a big sports fan, especially St. Louis Cardinals baseball and the Duke Blue Devils. In December 2022, I had the opportunity to conduct the Duke Pep Band at a basketball game at Cameron Indoor. That has been the highlight of my career thus far.

So glad we found Adam. His online sessions are fun and my sons are always wanting to do more.
I've never seen anyone who can keep a child engaged and so eager to learn! His use of Google Classroom is so handy and his resources are so helpful. My son has asked if we could Zoom with Adam on days that weren't our tutoring days! His prices are cheaper than most other tutors in my area and he does a better job!
Adam has been helping my grandson excel in school for two years and we recently started taking piano lessons from him too. Adam has vast experience working with struggling students to find what makes him excited and uses that in his lessons.

My son is autistic and ODD and Adam has instrumental in helping him stay grounded and complete his work without outbursts or shutdowns. He is positive but firm when needed and expects the same kind of respect he gives each of his students. I'm sad that this will be our last year with him!
Mr. Power has helped my child so much in since COVID shutdowns started. My son has grown to love school and looks forward to tutoring sessions each week. His grades have improved and so has his attitude. Mr. Power focuses on humor and also has taught my son about life and being a good person outside of school and academia.
