About Aamir

Mission: To help every eager student succeed in their classwork while truly understanding their material. This will be achieved through clear explanations, comprehensive and clear notes, practice questions (the most important way to learn) and myself being readily available whenever a student needs anything!

*IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING COVID-19: I currently have by business listed as online tutoring only, and this is due to the pandemic. Once COVID-19 has passed in the United States, I definitely would entertain (and quite frankly recommend) in-person lessons.

I am graduating from Bentley Univeristy this spring with a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science with a double minor in finance and business studies. Although I have a strong math background, I have a a great deal of experience in finance, accounting, business, etc. Throughout my educational journey, I have specialized in mathematics - namely probability/statistics, calculus, and financial mathematics.

I have a love and strong interest for mathematics and its applications in the real world. My goal is to not only help as many people succeed as I can, but also spark interest and motivation. People have always said I should get into teaching, as many of my college friends have learned difficult subject matter better from myself than their professors themselves.

I enjoy working with people and sharing my knowledge and what I've learned throughout my life. To me, being able to help others with their education proves that my own hard work has paid off!

Aside from my AP cousework in highschool and my advance college mathematics and finance coursework, I have passed three professional actuarial examinations and am writing another in the summer. These exams are incredibly difficult and take months of intensive preparation!

About the lesson

Soft skills (i.e. people skills) are incredibly important to have in order to succeed in the real world. Positive interaction and communication between the student and myself will definitely begin the learning process.

My tutoring lesson format (for students of all ages) will be similiar to a college lecture (or typically advanced HS math classes) where I teach the material for the day then we do tons of practice examples after. I am always eager to tackle students' questions as well. Learning by DOING is the key to success in mathematics. You learn by tackling and struggling with problems independently. Repetition will drill the knowledge into your brain!

I will expect detailed solutions to practice problems in advance before class so we can go over them! Believe me, this is the most important way to learn math. This is how I learned over the years - by practicing and getting feedback on my work.

Motivation and work ethic is paramount to achieving your goals. I know a lot of brilliant minds who did not succeed in their studies due to lack of time and effort put into their work.

There is no such thing as being dumb or "bad at math". Disliking math is one thing, BUT, your knowledge of the subject is a direct function of the amount of time and energy you put into it. Challenge yourself and embrace the struggle!

Any soccer fans? The 2018 World Cup feels like it was yesterday, and 2022 cannot come quickly enough! For me, the 2014 World Cup was the most surreal experience because the United States advanced through the "group of death" and went much farther than anyone anticipated!
