About Pat
I have a double major in music and have been teaching music skills since the 1980s.
In college I learned to play all the band and orchestra instruments to a certain level. It was required at my college to also take "recreation instruments" which accordion, uke, and guitar fit this description.
I have been successful at teaching students at all ages.

I enjoy seeing students grasp musical concepts and become proficient on their instrument. I enjoy teaching music skills. I am able to make learning an instrument fun and easy.
I get excited for my students when they can tell me how they can really improve musically because then they are showing they really know what to do when they are practicing their instrument.
I started teaching when I was in college. I had a private flute student and a guitar class back when I was in college. I did my student teaching at South Milwaukee High School with their band students.
I have always found teaching to be very rewarding when my students grasp concepts!
I have a double music major: music therapy and music education degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
I have taught flute, piano and guitar for many years. I took accordion as a recreation instrument in college. I have recently started taking accordion student's.

I like to find out what new students know already, so that we can progress from there.
I ask the new student questions as well as have them demonstrate what they have done in the past. If they have books that they have used I ask them to being the books. I do ask them to get books when appropriate.
I like to know how good their ears are trained as well. This usually become obvious to me quite quickly.
I have worked with students of all ages. I have had students with a wide range of abilities too. I am able to explain things in an easy way or adapt music skills, when needed, so that all my students are successful.
My flute and piano students have been the top musicians at their schools! Many have made it into youth orchestras!
I have taught: flute, piano, guitar and accordion.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do I,as the student, want to learn? Do I want to be in a band? Do I want to be a professional musician? Do I want to be able to perform on my instrument in recitals?
How much time am I willing to put into practice?
Why do I want to learn this skill? What am I going to do with what I learn? (As in perform or enjoy with family what I learned)
How far do I want to go with learning this instrument?

Perfect! She is very knowledgeable and passionate about music. I have two of my kids taking Guitar and Piano, but she also specializes in Flute and other instruments. She’s always encouraging, and motivates my kids with feedback to help them grow both inside and outside the class.

Perfect! I have really liked her from the beginning of my phone contacts with her. She went to Instrument Exchange right away, played flutes there, and picked one she felt was excellent for Zoe. After her first lesson with Pat, Zoe (8 years old) said "I really like Mrs. Wilt. She is very funny!"

Perfect! Pat Wilt is an excellent music teacher. She is very comprehensive emphasizing theory, consistent rhythm, counting, musical expression, smoothness, note and key recognition and enjoyment of learning. She also covers music history, and important composers and time periods. I wish I was a youth and could study under her direction starting very young. Even though I am an adult learne, Pat makes music education enjoyable and valuable. I started on the accordion with Pat and have added the flute. She gives homework and challenges me to learn independently and be creative. The world of music is so vast and Pat introduces something new with each lesson, making learning so interesting and worthwhile. She wants her students to excel and continually improve their ability. She spends quality time with her students and she is flexible with lesson schedules. I have learned so much in the last 15 months that I have been studying with Pat. I highly recommend her for those who would like a patient, knowledgeable and expert music teacher.

I had my daughter, a 12 year-old flute player, start taking lessons with Mrs. Wilt and I can't find enough good things to say about her. Since working with Mrs. Wilt, my daughter's playing skills have improved incredibly, and more importantly, it has increased her confidence and love of music. Mrs. Wilt is patient, responds to the needs and wants of her students, challenges them appropriately, helps them find music they love to play, and starts teaching theory right away in digestible bits, which is (in my opinion) an important building block to future success.
In summary, my daughter's skill level has moved beyond what is being taught in her band program, and it is all thanks to Mrs. Wilt. If you are looking for a great flute tutor in the Fox Valley area, Mrs. Wilt gets my beaming recommendation.Mrs. Wilt has a very extensive musical background with many different instruments. And she is a very patient, thorough and caring teacher. I would highly recommend her to any parent looking for a music teacher for their young one. That student will get a very full understanding of music theory, and will enjoy playing and practicing an instrument.
