About Joe

Making progress with a student who is eager to learn and consistently shows dedication and consistency is all it takes to become a great musician. With my expertise from Juilliard, Cleveland Institute of Music and Yale University I have all the tools and capability to bring a student to their potential playing ability. Working on music theory and instrument fundamentals is important to getting the most out of your lesson time.

Began teaching when I was a high school student by playing for the local middle school band students and trying to inspire them with current music and popular repertoire. 



Bachelors of Music from Cleveland Institute of Music, Pre-College Graduate from The Juilliard School and a Masters of Music from Yale University. Having played with New Haven Symphony, Salt Marsh Opera and Hartford Symphony I have professional experience with ensembles of a high caliber.

Understanding where a student is currently before beginning a customized lesson plan is very important. Working through the basics of reading music and getting familiar with the trumpet is necessary, and before assigning custom practice regimes I always try to develop a sense of understanding in what the student is trying to achieve.



Ages 6-20



I would advise to not hire based only on credentials but personality and compatibility with the student. If you get along and can understand your teacher well it makes the connection stronger and allows you to get the most out of your time with that teacher. 



Having been a student for a long time I am now on the audition circuit, searching for high caliber jobs and auditioning for the best ensembles in the world.
