About Donna

I am certified in early childhood education. I currently teach 3rd grade in a public school. I have taught 3rd grade for 4 years, but also have experience in K-2. I am passionate about developing strong and confident readers. I have a Master's degree in reading. I can support learners with the development of phonemic awareness, phonics skills, reading fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension. I will support learners in achieving their goals by planning instruction to support their individualized needs.

I enjoy working with children!💙

I have a BA in early childhood education/ early childhood special education. I also have an MA in reading. I am continuously developing my skills as an educator through professional developments.

About the lesson

I think establishing positive relationships is an essential element for learning. Once a relationship is established, I assess the needs of the learner. Assessment data is then used to drive my instruction to target the skill deficits and needs of the learner.

I have worked with high needs students in a public school setting. I have also worked with students with special needs.

Donna is by far one of the best tutors i've ever encountered. My son struggled with phonics and we went through plenty tutors before meeting Donna. She was patient, friendly, and my son looked forward to meetings with Ms. Fernandez aka her friend as he would say. Her passion for teaching always shined through. I've noticed my sons skills quickly developing. Now everywhere I go, he decodes restaurant titles and freeway signs. I am glad to have met someone with so much patience and willingness! Thank you Ms. Fernandez. I look forward to our continued learning.

Donna was a delight to work with. My little Anthony was struggling with reading I feel partly due to me moving so frequently because of work. I never considered a private tutor and would usually push for him staying after school. I finally decided on reaching out to an expert and was glad I did. Now he’s excelling in reading. She found the gaps and gave me some great tips to help incase we move again. A million thanks, Donna!
