About Evelyn
Sewing since I was 7, I always loved making my own clothes, costumes for my kids, and now making handbags. I love to teach sewing because it’s fun and a skill that can be used for so many applications from home decor and clothing projects to making gifts and handbags. Teaching one on one is a sure way to learn the basics and beyond.

I love working with all kinds of fabrics and leathers. The creativity process is fun and when the project is finished you can see your vision come to life. Teaching others to do the same is exciting and fulfilling.
After my website was created, I was asked by local friends and neighbors if I could teach them how to sew. And that’s how I got started.
Besides learning to sew from my mother when I was a child and school, I also have continuous training with Moore’s Sewing Center, Bluprint, Creativebug and Youtube.
I’ve seen for over 50 years and have a wide variety of experience.

I ask the student what type of projects they are interested in and what their skill level is. After assessing the information, I develop a lesson plan custom for the individual. This way we can get right to the project and teach the skills they will need.
I’ve worked with children and adults who wanted to learn the craft for personal enjoyment and also adults who wanted to hone their craft for their own business products.
Have a sewing machine and tools you need before you have the teacher come to your home. This way you will become familiar with your machine and tools and can practice and work on your project when the teacher is not there.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should know what area of sewing they want to focus on. Is it clothing, quilts, crafting, bags, etc.? And know what skil level they are at to accomplish these goals.
